Truly Yours, the anticipated conclusion of Mason & Sophie's story is HERE from Kennedy Fox!
This is a friends-to-lovers roommate romance filled with drama, suspense, and, of course, plenty of angsty slow burn goodness you've come to expect in a Kennedy Fox book!
As my world spirals out of control, he continues to stay by my side, protecting and taking care of me. Being just friends is all he's been able to offer, that is until both of our lives are threatened. Now that our relationship is blossoming into something more, I can't be what he needs even if I wished I could.
Bad timing strikes again.
When I think we can finally be together, someone threatens to tear us apart. I'm not the same girl Mason met three years ago, but I'm determined to fight for what I've always wanted--him.
Read Truly Mine Here to Catch Up!
As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and
taunting lips. Resisting her wasn’t an option, and we quickly became a
desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest
sin, but I was no saint.
Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting
her wasn’t a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs.
Friends.
It’s all we can ever be.
After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I
want to pull her close. Sophie’s on my mind more than ever as my instincts to
protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away
and makes it clear she doesn’t need me.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, to show her I’m the
good guy, but one night takes a tragic turn for the worse when her boyfriend
and I start throwing punches.
And ends when I’m arrested for his murder.

My Review:
About Kennedy Fox:
I'm so relieved that you don't have to wait too long between the duet releases for KF books. The last book ended on a crazy cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to see how it all got resolved in the second book. It honestly seems at times that Mason and Sophie simply cannot catch a break. When we thought they had their timing right, another thing enters their life that disrupts it. In this second part of the duet we really see both of them handle the repercussions of the situation (keeping this part spoiler free for those who didn't read the first duet yet). Although Sophie feels guilt for being too trusting again, it also seems like she never fully got over the first incident with Weston to begin with. She didn't grieve properly and I'm so glad that KF touches on depression and mental illness here. They mention the steps that Sophie begins to take and it's really nice to see a book handle that in an authentic way. You don't see a complete 180 from Sophie, and that to me felt incredibly real. People live with this kind of stuff every day, the grief and the trauma, and they have good days and bad days. I loved seeing how supportive Mason was throughout this entire thing. They both really just loved one another and wanted to be better and the best versions of themselves for each other. It was so angsty at times and I understand why Sophie didn't want to immediately rush into relationship status again. It's a matter of fixing yourself first. I'm so glad though that with KF you are guaranteed your HEA despite the hard road it takes. To use the word again, it feels authentic that the characters work hard for their HEA and they continue to do the work. You see this when the previous duet characters Lennon and Hunter pop up again too. Just because you solidify your relationship status, doesn't mean that every day moving past that will be easy. Love takes work.
I did like that they hinted towards the next couple in the duet series: Maddie and Liam. I can't wait to see how this all unravels because I looove Liam, but Maddie can be quite a riot at times. She is younger and a virgin, so it'll be interesting to see how that pairs up with Liam's playboy ways. I liked seeing all the sisters together and the boys friendship group throughout this book. That's something that I know I can expect from KF books: the friendship circle element, and I love it.
All in all, this was a great conclusion to the duet of Mason and Sophie. Dare I say I even loved it more than Hunter/Lennon's story? Ok, I definitely did ;)! It definitely reminds me of their earlier duet series and it's kind of a hybrid of Drew/Courtney and Logan/Kayla's story with a second chance, friends to lovers romance. If you are a fan of that trope, add in the usual drama and sexy moments that you can expect from KF books, then this is definitely a duet you should check out!
My rating of the book: ✮✮✮✮✮ - 5/5 stars
