It should have been easy.
I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death.
I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent.
The worst part is that I should have known better.
Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.
“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”
Sounds familiar? That’s because it was a headline in a tabloid the second time he got arrested.
Guess what? I didn’t listen.
I signed the contract.
World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.
My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.
Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.
Then he took my heart.
Then he took my all.

Review:
Shen is definitely my favorite romance author, so whenever she writes anything, it's an instant-buy and instant-read for me. I just love her writing so much and she honestly gets better as a writer with every new release. I was quite excited for this one because I haven't really read a rock star romance before. I really liked seeing Shen's ability to write lyrics/poems for Alex and seriously, can we please get somehow who can sing these songs and bring them to life. The lyrics resonated so much with me. The premise is quite interesting to begin with because Indigo gets a job that will save her brother, sister-in-law, and their family. Since their parents died a tragic night years ago, things have never been the same for her brother. He is finding it hard to have a job and finds himself drinking and becoming an addict. This job that Indigo lands will offer her enough money to 'fix' things at home. The job is going on tour away from her family for three months and to take care of a rock star named Alex Winslow. He's an addict and in a lot of ways, the same as her brother. Indie gets wrapped up in his world and as hard she tries not to, she finds herself falling for him. I don't want to spoil the book, but seeing them come together and come to terms with their feelings was really wonderful. It was gritty, raw, and even painful at times, but their story is definitely one that will always stay with me. I ended up going back on my kindle version and just highlighting so many beautiful passages that Shen wrote. Shen said that a lot of this book comes straight from her heart and soul and I really felt that reading this one. There's so much that is bound up in this book from addiction, mental health, family, friendship, etc. I loved the story and I'm already in withdraw waiting to see what Shen writes next!

My rating of the book: ✮✮✮✮✮ (5/5 stars)

About LJ Shen:
L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat. Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards. She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.
