The New Disney Princess Book Tag

I haven't done a book tag in what feels like forever, so it was a nice surprise when the lovely Flavia of Flavia The Bibliophile Blog tagged me in a Disney Princess Book Tag. I'm a big Disney fan and this book tag is simply amazing. I love seeing everyone's unique answers and seeing the newer princesses included in the content.

The Rules
1) Mention where you saw the tag/thank whoever tagged you (Thanks, Flavia!)
2) Tag Zuky’s and Mandy’s posts so they can check out the wonderful Princess fun throughout the blog world (Mandy @ Book Princess Reviews & Zuky @ Book Bum)
3) Play a game of tag at the end!

The Tag:

SNOW WHITE
THIS BOOK (LIKE THE MOVIE) STARTED IT ALL
Favorite Debut Book From an Author

This is really hard for me to choose because I've read so many incredible debut books from various authors. So is it ok if I list more than one? I definitely loved Saints & Misfits by S.K. Ali, which I have a full review of here! I also really loved Our Little Secret by Roz Nay, which I also wrote a full review for here! Both were simply amazing debut novels and I'm honestly so excited to see what both actors write next!

CINDERELLA
A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
Just Like Cinderella, You Either Didn’t Expect Much Out of This Character in the Beginning But Turned Out to Be a Total Gem

I've got to say Kitty Pong from the Crazy Rich Asians series. I was not in love with her when she was first introduced, but I loved how much her character grew in the second book. I kind of flip-flopped with her again in the final book, but in the end, she did turn out to be a total gem and did something  redeeming which I admire! Full review for: China Rich Girlfriend & Rich People Problems

AURORA
SLEEPING BEAUTY
A Book That Makes You Sleepy or Just Could Not Hold Your Attention

This book is definitely going to be The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara. I did not enjoy this book one bit. It made me so sleepy and bored at a lot of moments, but also made me incredibly angry. I listened to it on audiobook and I definitely slogged through it for months. I do not recommend this book at all. It's a shame. I do hope that Yanagihara's other books are better.

ARIEL
UNDER THE SEA
A Book With a Water/Ocean Setting

I'm going to say Salt to The Sea by Ruta Sepetys. This book takes place on a boat and is incredibly heartbreaking. I had all the emotions and more while reading this book. It takes place in WW2 setting and introduces the reader to a story that many are not familiar with. I loved it so much and I  immediately went out to buy Sepetys' other books.Would highly recommend if you are looking for something historical fiction.

BELLE
BEAUTY AND THE BOOKS
Name a Book With the Best Bookworm/Book Lover

Ok, I think this one is obvious, but how could I not choose Hermione from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series? She is the obvious choice and heck, Emma Watson went on to play Belle in the new live-action version which is some inception if you ask me ;) She made reading cool again, and I loved that she always had her head in a book. Another would be Henry in Words in Deep Blue

JASMINE
THE THIEF AND THE PRINCESS
Name Book with an Unlikely Love Story (Either in Terms of Romance or a Book You Didn’t Expect to Love So Much)

For this one I'm going to say Taylor Jenkins Reid's The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I won't say too much but this book definitely fulfills both categories: there is an unlikely love story which I did not see coming at all and I absolutely loved. I also knew that her books were popular, but I did not know just how much I would love it. I'm still swooning over it and I'm itching to sit down and reread it this instant!

POCAHONTAS
THE REAL LIFE PRINCESS
Name a Book that is Based on a Real Life Person You Want to Read/Have Read

I read a ton of Non-Fiction and I always love a good memoir/biography. I often pick up these usually knowing a bit about them before hand. My most recent one that I've read and loved is digital influencer/Youtuber: Anna Akana's So Much I want to Tell You: Letters to my little sister. I knew I wanted to get it right away because I've been a fan of Anna's for a long time and reading this only reaffirmed my admiration for her as a human being and content creator.

MULAN
THE PRINCESS THAT SAVED HER COUNTRY
Name the Fiercest Heroine You Know

This one is easy! I will definitely say Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas - she is so incredibly badass and I just love how fierce she is. She's a train assassin and does not back down easily. Another character created by Maas is definitely Feyre in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I loved her seeing her come into herself and really transform into a strong individual.

TIANA
THE PRINCESS WITH THE COOLEST AND MOST DIVERSE CREW
Name a diverse book whether it is a diverse set of characters (like Tiana’s group of Naveen, Louis, Ray, and more) or just diverse in general

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas! This book is not only incredibly diverse, but just such an important read for our time. The characters are amazing and I just love the dynamic of the entire group. There's Starr (the protagonist), Chris (the boyfriend), Maya (one of the bestfriends), Seven (her brother).. and more! I loved those characters in particular but the other family members were also really lovely and made a huge part of the book.

RAPUNZEL
LET YOUR LONGGGGGG HAIR DOWN
Name the Longest Book You’ve Ever Read

I really can't name the longest book I've ever read off the top of my head, and I don't have my full book collection with my currently. From what I can remember, I believe Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the longest one, coming in at 816 pages and for school, I've read James Joyce's Ulysses a few times, and that is about 1056 pages (depending on which edition). For more recent, going on what I've read in the past few years, Sarah J. Maas' A Court of Mist and Fury was quite long, coming in at 656 pages.

MERIDA
I DETERMINE MY OWN FATE
A Book Where There is No Love Story/Interest or Isn’t Needed

So I have two Victoria Schwab titles for this category. First is Vicious, there isn't a love story in this book at all. It is simply about two incredibly evil individuals and their rivalry with one another. Sure, you can ship characters, but it isn't explicit in canon. I really liked that it focused more on the questions of good and evil, and did not force a love story in there somewhere. Another book by Schwab that follows this is This Savage Song. Imagine Romeo and Juliet, but without the romance. The boy and girl are from opposite sides and it's really interesting to see the dynamic between the two. There's a possibility for romance, but the narrative does not hinge on that and can stand on it's own. I really admire Schwab's writing because she doesn't require a love story to make her books. She is so amazing at character building and world building that it is simply all you need and all you want.

ANNA/ELSA
FROZEN HEARTS
A Book in a Winter/Cold Setting

This one was quite hard. I believe one of the Tahereh Mafi books took place in the winter and if I'm remembering correctly, it was Unravel Me? I also think of The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, which I read growing up, and C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I also think of holiday & Christmas books when I think of a Winter setting so basically any book that mentions Christmas or snow ever :P

MOANA
HOW FAR I’LL GO
A Character That Goes on a Journey

For this one, I'm going to choose Stephanie Garber's Caraval. In this book, the main character, Scarlett, and her sister, Tella go on a journey to Caraval, a once-in-a-lifetime performance/experience. They have to go on a boat and once there, it is like another journey throughout Caraval itself. This trip really allows Scarlett to explore her strengths as a character but also uncover the hidden secrets of the mysterious Legend. I loved following along with both characters as they embarked on their journey and make through this strange wonderland/circus world. I found myself wanting to travel to Caraval as well as I was reading and I think that is a sign of a good journey in the book, if the reader wants to come along as well on the trip ;)

Well, we've reached the end! Thanks for sticking around and reading all my picks for each category. It was definitely hard to choose for some of these, so I hope you don't mind that I may have put multiple answers for some categories. I definitely feel like I need to go sit down and watch Disney movies on loop for a while now after doing this tag and I must admit, I haven't watched Moana yet, so I must rectify that situation. Thanks again to Flavia for tagging me! It was a ton of fun. And before I go, I just want to play the game of tag, so....

The One Direction Book Tag!

Hi everyone! So I recently saw One Direction in concert and it might have been seriously the best moment of my life. It was so amazing and it just reaffirmed my love for them. Harry Styles is a total babe in real life. ;) Anyways, I had so much fun with the Taylor Swift book tag I did a while back that I found this one and I thought it was perfect!  Let's get started!

1. Steal My Girl
Everybody wanna steal my girl…
…Find another one ’cause she belongs to me
(a book with a really good love triangle)

The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
Perfect love triangle! I don't think I can think of any series that does it quite like this one.  I was blown away with how Cassandra Clare executed it all!

2. Where Do Broken Hearts Go
Yeah, it took me some time but I figured out
How to fix up a heart that I let down
(a character who proves himself/herself worthy)

Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Victor definitely proves himself worthy I think. This book definitely subverted my expectations and although all the characters are super messed up, you can't help but root for characters like Victor!

3. 18
I wanna love like you made me feel when we were 18
(cutest puppy love story)

Most Likely to Succeed by Jennifer Echols
I recently reviewed this here and it was seriously the cutest love story ever! I loved it so much.

4. Girl Almighty
Her light is as loud as as many ambulances
As it takes to save a savior
(a strong female protagonist)

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I am totally choosing Katniss for this! She is the strongest female protagonist and is an all around kick-ass character. She is so compassionate and brave!

5. Fool’s Gold
And, yeah, I let you use me from the day that we first met
 But I’m not done yet
 Falling for your fool’s gold
And I knew that you turned it on for everyone you met
 But I don’t regret
 Falling for your fool’s gold
(a book you love but ended up hurting you… but you still love it)

Allegiant by Veronica Roth
I loved and hated this book all at once. It definitely hurt!! #stillnotoverit

6. Night Changes
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you’ve ever dreamed of
 Disappearing when you wake up
(best plot twist you weren’t expecting)

At The Water's Edge by Sara Gruen
My full review can be found here! I won't say much because I don't want to spoil it but I did not anticipate the novel going the way it did and it was such a great twist that helped build character!

7. No Control
I can’t contain this anymore
I’m all yours, I got no control, no control
(a book where you can really feel the tension)

Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum
My full review can be found here! This book was so intense, it definitely was a rollercoaster ride!

8. Spaces
Spaces between us keep getting deeper
It’s harder to reach ya even though I try
(a book where the love story takes a wrong turn…)

Like It Never Happened by Emily Adrian
My full review can be found here! I don't want to say too much without spoiling and I don't think this is only a love story because the book has a lot more than that. But there is a love story that definitely takes a wrong turn.

9. Stockholm Syndrome
Who’s this whisper telling me that I’m never gonna get away?
(a book that features Stockholm Syndrome)

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Ok to preface, I love this book series a lot, but come to think of it, it does feel a bit Stockholm Syndrome!

10. Clouds
I know you said that you don’t like it complicated
That we should try to keep it simple
But love is never ever simple
(a on-and-off/complicated relationship)

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Jace/Clary - Clace is definitely a complicated on-and-off relationship!

11. Change Your Ticket
So, you should probably stay here with me a couple more days
Come on let me change your ticket home
(“long distance relationship”)

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E.Smith
This was a hard one because I don't know many books that focus on long-distance relationships!

12. Illusion
Tell me you believe in love
 It’s not an illusion
(a book that made you believe in love)

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
How could I not pick this one? Mr. Darcy!!

13. Act My Age
I won’t act my age, no, I won’t act my age
No, I’ll still feel the same around you
(a book character that does not act their age)

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
A bit of an inverted question/answer. I selected this one because one of my favorite characters ever, Kitty, is seriously wise beyond her years! And at times, Lara Jean really doesn't act her age which can be frustrating!

14. Once in a Lifetime
Once in a lifetime
 you were mine
(the saddest breakup)

The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi
My full review can be found here! It wasn't the saddest breakup story, but I really enjoyed how this book handled breakups! It was such a wonderful read!

This was such a fun tag to do! I am going to go ahead and tag my two best girlfriends who also love one direction: Nikki from NikkitheKnack and Michelle from Musings of a Writer.
If you also love one direction, please go ahead and do the tag as well and link it to me in the comments! Happy reading all :D

The Taylor Swift Book Tag

I was tagged last month by the lovely Nicole from Nicole's Novel Reads for the Taylor Swift Tag. I did not know this was a thing until I was tagged and I was so excited. I'm a big fan of Taylor Swift! Actually kind of counting down the days until her Toronto stop on the #1989WorldTour ;)

Anyways, the tag was originally created by The Book Life! I will leave my tags for the end of the post.

1. For ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ pick a book (or book series) that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with.

After the "Twilight" craze, I remember looking to the Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz. I've read every single book from that series and while in the beginning, I really enjoyed it, towards the end of the series, I no longer connected with the characters like I used to and I felt that the narrative was dragged out over too many books.

2. For ‘Red’ pick a book with a RED cover.

This one was easy! I chose the most vibrant red book sitting on my shelf! It is also my favourite book from the Hunger Games trilogy.

3. For ‘The Best Day’ pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic.

Always. (I think that says enough)

4. For ‘Love Story’ pick a book with forbidden love.

I would definitely categorize Sydney and Adrian as forbidden.

5. For ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ pick a book with a bad character you couldn’t help but love.

Warner, for obvious reasons.

6. For ‘Innocent’ (written b/c of Kanye West!) pick a book that someone ruined the ending for.

This one was unfortunately spoiled for me. I couldn't believe it! It was literally the first sentence of someone's review on goodreads. Unbelievable!

7. For ‘Everything has changed’ pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.

For this one, I am most definitely going to pick Snape. JK paced it really well for Snape and I really enjoyed seeing how it all unfolded and I was so happy (bittersweet really) by the end of it.

8. For ‘You Belong With Me’ pick your most anticipated book release.

I couldn't choose just one. These are currently my most anticipated releases - Dumplin' by Julie Murphy, Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling and Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare! I am so excited for all of these and I wish I could read them right now!

9. For ‘Forever and Always’ – Pick your favourite book couple.

Ron and Hermione forever. I am going to ignore JK's recent edits to cannon :P

10. For ‘Begin Again pick a series that deserves a second chance.

One of my favourite series ever by one of my favourite authors ever. I know this series did not get a lot of love, but I definitely recommend going back and checking it out. If there's one book you should buy this year, it is this one. Seriously. Do it. I want the third book.

11. For Wonderland pick a book that features your favourite fictional world.

This one was a no-brainer. I can get my bags packed instantly. Please take me to Hogwarts.

12. For Last Kiss pick a series that you’re not ready to let go, even though it ended.

Harry Potter once again. I decided to change it up to feature the new covers. Although it has ended, these new editions that have been coming out just reignite my love for the series.

13.  For Clean pick a series where you’re glad it’s over.

Unpopular book opinion coming - but I'm so glad that this series is over. Surprisingly enough, I enjoy the movies a lot, but the book series just wasn't for me. I liked the first book and from there it just went downhill. It was a struggle for me to get through the final book.

14. For Wildest Dreams pick your favourite fictional guy–it’s preferred but he doesn’t have to be a bad boy.

Warner. Warner. Warner. Warner. Warner.

15. For Enchanted pick a book you found by chance that you ended up loving.

I was browsing chapters one day when I came across this. What a wonderful read. It totally blew me away and I just get emotional thinking about it. Incredibly beautiful book.

16. For All You Had to Do Was Stay pick a book you didn’t finish that you wish you had given another chance.

I stopped after Beautiful Creatures. I also recently purged my books to a friend of mine. I want to give it another chance at some point because so many people love this series, but at the moment, I am just not feeling it.

17. For ‘Come Back, Be Here’ pick the book you would least like to lend out, for fear of missing it too much.

All of my books? I don't usually lend out books. I do sometimes to a selective few, but even so, I'm not a big fan of doing it because I will miss my books. I also worry about my books.

18. For Teardrops on My Guitar’ pick a book that made me cry a lot.

I cried like crazy the first time I read it. I did not know what to expect because I went into this book blindly and wow. I will say though, if I were to read it today, I don't think that would happen.

19. For Shake it Off pick a book I love so much that I just shake off the haters.

Winger has some mixed reviews and I can see why the main character can be annoying at times.. but I just love this book SO. MUCH. Ryan Dean has such great character growth!

20. For Blank Space pick my favourite autographed book.

Meeting Ishiguro will forever be a moment that I will cherish. You can read my full recap from when I met him -> here!

21. For Today was a Fairy Tale pick my favourite retelling.

The Lunar Chronicles of course! There are fairy tale retellings with influences from Sailor Moon.

Well that was a lot of fun! Thanks again to Nicole for tagging me. I hope that you all enjoyed my answers for this tag. I will tag the following lovely people:

If you do this tag, please link me it below in the comments! <3
