Bane, the highly-anticipated next standalone in the Sinners of Saint Series by L.J. Shen is LIVE!
Bane
Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud.
Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living.
Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled.
Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently.
Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.
Jesse Carter
Hot as hell, cold as ice.
I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap.
She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time.
She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad.
More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack.
Little does she know, I have the f****** teeth for it.
Review:
Shen has done it AGAIN! Just when I think she can't get any better, she does. It's always an absolute treat when one of her books lands in my kindle app. I love the brooding alpha males and the awesome heroines that she writes. I was really intrigued by this story because when we met Bane in Edie and Trent's story (Scandalous - previous book), he really didn't seem to care that Edie left him. He was an interesting character for sure and because Vicious is my favorite, it was nice to see some similarities between the two. Can I also pause and just say how happy it made my heart that Vicious was present in a lot of the book? Anyways, there is just so much this book in terms of topics (rape culture), and how far Shen went with it. She not only gives voice to the direct victims, but also those closely tied to the situation. Shen has a serious knack for revealing the right amount of information at the right time. Jesse and Bane's story was really lovely because I loved the beginning when Bane was trying to get her to trust him. I also love how we learned he saw her much earlier before they actually met. I really can't say much more without spoiling the plot, but I did stay up into the early hours of the night reading this. I could not put it down, like with all Shen books. These characters stay with you long after you finish the book and there are so many beautiful passages from the book that you definitely want to highlight and remember always. If you are a fan of Shen's previous books, this one will be another nice treat for you. If you haven't read anything by Shen yet, what are you seriously waiting for? You don't need to read these in order of publication, and Bane is a great one to start if you are looking for a story where the princess saves herself.
My rating of the book: ✮✮✮✮✮ (5/5 stars)

About LJ Shen
L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat. Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards.
She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.
