To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.
At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.
But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.)
We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened.
This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?
Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.

MY REVIEW:
I've been a fan of Vi Keeland's for a while and I absolutely loved the last book I read by her and Penelope Ward: Hate Notes! This is a new release in their Cocky Hero series and we recently learned that a lot of authors were going to be joining this world and collaborating with the duo which was exciting. I was immediately sucked into this book as I often am with their writing. You meet Hollis and Elodie as they literally run into one another in a parking lot. They don't exactly get off on the right foot, but she ends up being the nanny for his niece. They are forced to spend lots of time together and it's clear that there's an attraction between them. They both were burned in their previous relationships though so neither really act on it. It's a bit of back and forth, but I looooved seeing them fall for one another. In true Keeland/Ward fashion, the book was incredibly sexy, and I just loved both characters so much. Hollis' niece, Hailey, was also so great and I loved all their moments together and how they started becoming a little family.
I will say that for 75% of this book, I was about to call this book my favorite by Keeland/Ward yet. However, the twist, although a twist, kind of undoes everything a bit for me. I don't want to spoil it, but it does annoy me with how greatly it affected both of them and their love story. I wish it just wasn't a thing at all. I also found that the ending was really rushed when you spend so much time building up Elodie and Hollis' relationship because the final moments that solidify the HEA just felt super fast. I also found that the "twist" just took over the end of the book and that really soured how I looked at things.. I am bitter it was even brought up in the epilogue. I just wanted more moments of Hollis and Elodie together and happy. So unfortunately, the I didn't love the ending of it.
Other than that, it was a solid book with a great love story and very lovable characters. If you are a fan of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, you will surely enjoy this one.
